New clubhouse takes shape at The Orchard

Construction is progressing on schedule for the new clubhouse and indoor pickleball court at The Orchard, Golden Years Homestead’s 55+ independent living community near New Haven.

The structure is now in place, and crews are installing structural brackets and exterior sheathing. The building is expected to be under roof soon, followed by utility rough-in work. Shawnee Construction & Engineering is serving as the contractor for the project. A grand opening is planned for summer 2027.

The clubhouse will offer approximately 8,500 square feet of finished space featuring an indoor pickleball court, fitness center, library, craft room, activity and gathering spaces, and a fully equipped kitchen.

“It is exciting to see the clubhouse taking shape and to imagine our residents enjoying these new spaces,” said Shauna Shafer, Executive Director of Golden Years Homestead. “The clubhouse will give residents even more opportunities to stay active, build friendships and come together as a community.”

Golden Years Homestead is a faith-based, nonprofit continuing care retirement community and an affiliate of Greencroft Communities. Serving residents since 1971, the 43-acre campus offers independent living, assisted living and skilled nursing services in a welcoming and supportive environment.
