Affordable Adult Day Services at the Homestead

Affordable Adult Care - In Story PhotoCaring for a loved one at home can be physically, emotionally, and financially demanding. One lesser-known ministry of benevolence at Greencroft is the financial assistance available to families who need help covering the cost of Adult Day Services at the Thelma A. Schrock Homestead on the campus of Greencroft Goshen.

Donor funding, primarily through the annual Thelma A. Schrock Homestead Golf Benefit, helps keep fees affordable and provides scholarships for families who might otherwise be unable to access care.

“Thelma Schrock and her husband, Harold, set this ministry up,” explained Todd Yoder, president of the Greencroft Communities Foundation. “Harold’s vision was helping those who were unable to afford care for a loved one. He wanted the Homestead to be a place where anyone could bring their loved one for a couple of hours or a full day and receive compassionate care, regardless of their financial situation.”

For one caregiver, that support brought relief when it was needed most. In a letter to the Foundation, she shared:

“A few people had suggested to me that I look into the Homestead, but I put it off for nearly two years because I was certain our budget would not allow for it. I wasn’t aware of the possibility of assistance.

“It was a wonderful surprise to find out otherwise! It has been a sanity saver and game changer on so many levels.”
Stories like hers reflect the purpose behind the Homestead’s benevolence fund. Through the generosity of donors and the ongoing legacy of the Schrock family, support and compassionate care remain within reach for those who need it most.
