Golden Years Homestead celebrates groundbreaking for new clubhouse at The Orchard

Golden Years Homestead celebrated the groundbreaking of a new clubhouse and pickleball court on May 15, 2026 for The Orchard, a new 55+ independent living community located on the northeast side of Fort Wayne near New Haven.

Designed to encourage wellness, connection and active living, the new clubhouse will feature a fitness center, library, craft room, gathering spaces and a fully equipped kitchen for resident activities and community events. The project also includes an indoor pickleball court, providing residents and visitors with opportunities for recreation, fellowship and healthy living.

“This investment reflects our commitment to meeting the evolving needs of both our residents and the greater Fort Wayne and New Haven communities,” said Hugh Davis, President and CEO of Greencroft Communities. “The new clubhouse and pickleball court will create spaces for connection, wellness and engagement while advancing our mission to create vibrant living communities where people can truly thrive.”

The vision for the clubhouse was shaped through feedback from residents and community members who expressed the desire for more gathering spaces, wellness opportunities and recreational amenities. The investment reflects the continued growth of The Orchard and the commitment to creating an environment where residents can build relationships, remain active and enjoy a strong sense of community.

“This project demonstrates the local board’s commitment to investing in spaces that bring people together and strengthen our community,” said Cyndy Elick, Board Chair of Christian Ministries. “The clubhouse will provide opportunities for fellowship, activity and meaningful relationships while reflecting the Christian values that guide our mission and service to others.”

Golden Years Homestead is a faith-based, nonprofit continuing care retirement community and an affiliate of Greencroft Communities. Serving residents since 1971, the 43-acre campus offers independent living, assisted living and skilled nursing services in a welcoming and supportive environment.
