Oak Grove recognizes outgoing board members and receives innovation award

Oak Grove Christian Retirement Village expresses appreciation to three local leaders who have concluded their service on the Board of Directors: Sharon Bierma (2023–2025), Larry Ouwenga (2021–2025), and John Roorda (2018–2025). Each of these individuals has contributed valuable insight and leadership to ensure Oak Grove continues to serve residents with excellence in a faith-based environment.

“Oak Grove’s strength lies in the heart of its people—those who lead with purpose and compassion,” said Hugh Davis, President and CEO of Greencroft Communities. “We are deeply grateful to Sharon, Larry, and John for their guidance, generosity, and dedication to the well-being of our residents.”

In addition to recognizing outgoing board members, Oak Grove was recently honored with Greencroft Communities’ highest distinction—the Excellence in Innovation Award. This award celebrates creative, forward-thinking initiatives that enhance resident life, team development, and operational excellence.

Oak Grove’s leadership team, led by Beth Ingram, VP of Operations, earned the award for their exceptional work in reducing reliance on agency staffing while strengthening team stability and resident care. Through the creation of an agency reduction team and implementation of a redesigned onboarding and training process, Oak Grove cut agency hours by nearly 90%, saving more than $528,000 in just one year. Most importantly, residents now benefit from more consistent, confident, and caring staff—improving safety, satisfaction, and quality of life.

Oak Grove Christian Retirement Village is an affiliate of Greencroft Communities of Goshen, Indiana. The 15-acre campus is home to over 85 residents in a variety of living options, including catered living, assisted living, skilled nursing care, memory care, and short-term rehabilitation.
