Southfield Village Welcomes Joe Doran

Joseph M. Doran has joined Southfield Village as the new Vice President of Operations and Executive Director.  He brings nearly 30 years of administrative experience in healthcare and senior living to Southfield Village, located in South Bend, Ind. 

Joe is a licensed Indiana Health Facility Administrator and an Indiana Certified Preceptor Administrator.  He is a graduate of Ball State University (Muncie, Ind.) and has also studied in the School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University’s Bloomington and South Bend campuses. 

From his experience as an administrator at other retirement facilities Joe was already familiar with Southfield Village as well as Greencroft Communities.  He was excited to join the “family” and learn more about Southfield Village and the system and its values and methods. 

Joe comes to Southfield Village from serving as Administrator at The Milton Home in South Bend.  He was also previously administrator or executive director at Sanctuary at Holy Cross, Cardinal Nursing Center, Regency Place, Saint Paul’s Retirement Community and Saint Joseph Care Center Notre Dame, all in South Bend, and Edgewood Manor of Knox, Indiana. 

He has served on the Public Policy Committee of Leading Age Indiana (formerly the Indiana Association of Homes and Services for the Aging, or IAHSA), as chair of the Guardianship Advocacy Board of the Agency on Aging—Area II, vice president of the Saint Joseph County Administrators Association, on the Governmental Affairs Committee of the Indiana Health Care Assocation, and the Alumni Board of Saint Joseph High School. 

Joe and his wife Karyn have a son and a daughter.

Joe already notes that one of the greatest resources of Southfield Village is the staff.  “They’re a committed, serving group,” he says, adding that he is pleased to become a member of the team.  He is also already appreciating the residents — from those independent living to assisted living to healthcare — who together help create a sense of community at Southfield Village.  “Their lives, personalities and involvement make this is a great place to call home.”  With staff, residents and the Board of Directors working together for the future, Joe believes Southfield Village can dream big!
