Art Is Ageless Exhibits Open May 23
The
exhibitions from the eighth annual Art Is Ageless contest sponsored by
Greencroft Communities will open soon.
The contests
and exhibits are open to amateur artists aged 55 or older who reside in Elkhart
and St. Joseph Counties, Ind. The
contest is sponsored by Greencroft Communities, Goshen, Ind., to recognize the
creativity, growth and contributions of older generations.
The art
categories are 1) paintings/drawings; 2) photography; 3) needlework/quilting/weaving (“soft”
crafts); and 4) sculpture/ceramics/woodworking (“hard”
crafts). Prizes are awarded in each
category as well as for “Best of Show” and a “People’s Choice” winner. Winning entries will also be featured in a 2013
Greencroft Communities wall calendar. Artists
may submit up to three entries, completing one application per entry. All art
must have been completed when the artist was age 55 or older and within the
past 10 years. There is no entry fee.
St. Joseph
County:
Artists in St.
Joseph County will have their entries judged and shown during May 23-31 at
Southfield Village, 6450 Miami Circle, South Bend. The awards will be presented at an opening
reception at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23.
Elkhart
County:
Artists in
Elkhart County will have their entries judged and shown during May 24-28 at
Greencroft Goshen Senior Center, 1820 Greencroft Blvd., Goshen. The awards will
be presented at an opening reception at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 24.
Holmes
County, Ohio:
In addition, a
second annual Art Is Ageless contest and exhibit hosted by the Walnut Hills
Retirement Community in Walnut Creek, Ohio, will be held in August.
