Plans are underway for a major project at Greencroft Goshen—constructing a new two-story, 64-bed Healthcare facility and renovating the existing Healthcare center into a "neighborhood" model.
Greencroft Goshen always strives to use the best in services, technology and design for retirement living. The latest ideas help to keep life stimulating, creative and comfortable. We want our residents’ home at Greencroft Goshen to truly feel like home. Home is a place of familiarity, comfort and community.
The Challenge
Our current Healthcare facility, though, feels more like a hospital than a home, with long hallways that converge at nurses stations. Greencroft Goshen’s healthcare facility was built in 1971 with expansions in 1981 and 1995, using the best and most advanced technology, design and information of those times. But technology and insights change.
The Solution
It’s time to renovate Healthcare at Greencroft Goshen to transform lives. It will be re-designed using a "neighborhood" model — that creates a stronger sense of home, provides more choices, and more easily builds relationships among residents and with staff — enabling residents to sleep and eat better, remember more, need less medication and live longer.
The neighborhoods will feature personal bedrooms and shared kitchen, living and dining room areas clustered in small households of about 16 residents. Each household will have its own front entrance. The residents will feel at home. Combined with excellent personal care and clinical services, this will position Greencroft Goshen at the forefront of healthcare services.
Your Contribution…
The budget includes construction of the new Healthcare Center; renovation of the existing Healthcare, Therapy area and Thelma A. Schrock Homestead; a new "Main Street" of shops and services; furnishings, equipment, landscaping, etc.; and a contingency fund.
Greencroft Goshen will invest about $5 million dollars in the project. Bonding (not using any governmental or local funds) will provide another $12 million. Contributions from individuals and corporations will raise about $3 million. That $3 million will come from both large contributions and many, many smaller ones. This is where you can help.
The "Intent to Gift" form, which can be downloaded here, allows you to designate how much you would like to contribute, on what schedule and in what amount, over what period of time. The form should be filled out and returned to the Greencroft Foundation at the address on the form.
