Greencroft Middlebury on Quilt Gardens Tour

Greencroft Middlebury is again one of the sites in the Elkhart County Convention & Visitors Bureau's Quilt Gardens Tour. The 2010 Greencroft Middlebury quilt garden features the "Bright Hopes" pattern and contains nearly 2,000 pink and red begonias and bright yellow marigolds.  Greencroft residents, staff and volunteers helped plan, plant and maintain the garden.

The Bright Hopes pattern was chosen for its simplicity but more importantly to help give a sense of hope in a chaotic world. In 2009 Greencroft chose the Barn Raising pattern.

The tour, which opened Memorial Day weekend, features 17 large-scale quilt-patterned gardens and 17 oversize quilt art murals in seven communities throughout the area. Some 90,000 annuals are planted in the gardens.

In 2008, its first year, the tour attracted national recognition. The Sunrise pattern quilt garden at the Old Bag Factory in Goshen was named a finalist in the Chicago Tribune's 2008 "Glorious Gardens Contest" and the American Bus Association listed the tour as one of the Top 100 Events in North America for 2009.
